Wednesday 20th March

Wall to wall sunshine all day!

Another sunny day with a light breeze and very pleasant temperatures in the mid 70s and low humidity. Ben spent a bit of time fishing before we went out to play golf.

Today we played at Buffalo Creek again. This course and River Run we played yesterday are the best we have played.

We played on our own and both had our best rounds to date. Ben won today with a 2 under handicap round. The course was in good condition apart from 2 greens which had been vandalised but we managed to avoid the damage. The staff were also very welcoming and helpful.

We haven't really talked about driving here.  You have to keep alert at all times as lane discipline (up to 4 lanes) is non-existent with cars weaving in and out to gain a place.  The main arterial roads are busy with speed limits up to 60 mph.  One convention Ben likes is that you can turn right through a red light if there is no conflicting traffic (we are driving on the right here).  We keep a Tom Tom device which is configured for the USA which has proved invaluable, particularly where it visually shows you which lane to be in when approaching junctions at speed.  The north part of Anna Maria Island where we are staying has a mandatory speed limit of 25 mph.  Throw into the mix are the large number of pedestrians heading for the beaches who have priority crossings on the roads, golf buggies, electric scooters and bikes, you cannot afford to let your concentration lapse.

We called into Publix on the way home so did not arrive back at our condo until about 7.30pm. We have found that we enjoy eating in with simple meals rather than going out to eat.
